6 months on
Well, it is now 6 months since we left the UK (6 months yesterday to be precise) and look how far we've come. 4 countries and 35 beds later the old life of 9-5 work and mortgage payments seems like a lifetime away.
Life is good here. It's sunny and ice cream is plentiful.
Also, we have friends visiting at the moment, which is a novelty indeed. In the last 6 months we have met some great people, but making lasting friendships with people on the road, even the really great ones, isn't all that easy. Most of the time you're not all headed in the same direction and we all have so many people to keep in touch with back home already.
But, Matt and Trace (from the UK) and Max (Germany) who we met in Ahipara a few weeks ago are in the Bay of Islands for a few days and it's really good to see them again. More fun to be had teaching Max English slang and making sure he is able to use it in the right context...
That's not to say we're not missing you guys back home of course. But it does feel a little unreal that we have been away for 6 months.
